Medium bio

Lyn Baird is an Australian author, storyteller and speaker living between Scotland and Australia. She writes historical fiction exploring women history almost forgot, ancestry, faith and belonging — and the ways stories from the past continue to shape the present.

Before turning more fully to writing, Lyn spent more than forty years working with people’s stories across nursing, counselling, education, pastoral leadership and community care. She has taught in colleges and at university, spoken nationally and internationally, facilitated retreats and led international study journeys. Her current writing includes the Wisdom’s Unbroken Thread historical fiction quartet and shorter work exploring story, place and ancestry.

Full bio

Lyn Baird is an Australian author, storyteller and speaker whose work explores story, ancestry, spirituality and belonging — particularly the lives of women history almost forgot.

Her historical fiction often begins with a fragment: a woman’s name in an old record, a place that refuses to be forgotten, a family story, or a silence that raises more questions than it answers. From there, Lyn is drawn to the person behind the record and to the ways stories can echo across generations.

Before turning more fully to writing, Lyn spent more than forty years listening to people’s stories through nursing, counselling, education, pastoral leadership and community care. She has taught in colleges and at university, spoken at conferences nationally and internationally, and facilitated retreats in Australia.

In 2013, Lyn undertook a 40-day self-led pilgrimage through Scotland, writing about ancestry, history and place as she travelled. Those stories helped open the door to later leading international study journeys through Israel and Greece, bringing together history, spirituality, story and place.

Today, Lyn lives between Scotland and Australia and is writing Wisdom’s Unbroken Thread, a quartet of historical novels exploring forgotten voices and the ancestral threads connecting generations. She is currently writing Book One, Whispers Beneath the Flame.

Lyn is also the creator of Serenity Unveiled: 55 Reflections for Heart, Mind and Soul, and a contributing author to ImpactHer. In 2027, she will host The Threads Between Us — An Ancestral Journey Through Scotland, an intimate ten-day women’s retreat exploring the stories we inherit, the places that shape us, and what we choose to carry forward.
